Sirus Digital Newsletter – Edition 102

Freedom is possibly the most "un-free" thing we have. It was bought and paid for by those from the past and is something we maintain for those yet to come.
Most of us and our neighbors want to provide an opportunity for our families, achieve a measure of success as we define it, and limit the obstacles that others would put in our way. It is those things that we do with Freedom that ultimately defines us - both individually as well as as a nation.

Freedom Isn't Free

Editor’s Note: This newsletter was originally published on Monday, July 04th, 2022.

Today is July 4th, 2022. It is on this day that America celebrates Independence Day. Historically, it is recognized when the American colonies declared their independence from England (and fought a war to earn it).

Since that time, there have been other wars and battles. Some have been defending our freedom and independence; others have been in support of those benefits for others.

While Memorial Day at the end of May is a day of remembering those who fought in or were injured/killed in our wars & battles, Independence Day (July 4th) is a day set aside for us to remember why!

The freedoms that we enjoy were earned at a high cost paid by those whom we remember. The freedoms that we leave for our children are maintained through the things that we do today.

To that end, Freedom is a benefit enjoyed by one generation paid for by those who preceded it.

Freedom is possibly the most "un-free" thing we have. It was bought and paid for by those from the past and is something we maintain for those yet to come.

As mentioned in the introduction above, Freedom is a gift from the past that can only pay forward into the future.

Much has been said this summer about “freedoms” and “rights”. Regardless of what you hear, there is not a country with more freedom and opportunity than we enjoy today.

Whether you are a Democrat or a Republican or “other”, the limits to what you can potentially achieve are most often those that we place upon ourselves.

If recent events only serve to lead more of us to understand what freedoms we enjoy, how they are defined, and how they are ensured, this will be one of the best Independence Days of my lifetime.

Most of us and our neighbors want to provide an opportunity for our families, achieve a measure of success as we define it, and limit the obstacles that others would put in our way. It is those things that we do with Freedom that ultimately defines us – both individually as well as as a nation.

I hope your day is amazing and you wake up with a fresh perspective on what your future might hold.

Job Cuts likely to dampen rampant job market & salaries

For those who count hiring among their job responsibilities, it has been tough recently. Historically-low unemployment numbers and workers leaving the job market (for whatever reason) have combined to create real challenges. As the Fed looks to increase interest rates & some companies who were on the forefront of hiring for 12-24 months starting to freeze or cut back their hiring, we may be poised for a reset.
