Christmas is coming!
This is the time of year when I normally take some time off to spend with family as well as do strategic planning for the upcoming year. Historically, I typically work until around Dec 15th or so and take off for the remainder of the year.
It is during these times that I’ve created content (like my Killer Video series) or content on my website. Last year at this time, I was laying the foundations for Sirus Digital which I started back in March 2020.
More than anything else, this is a time to spend being thankful and showing attention to those most important to you.
It is also a great time to remember why we celebrate this time of year. It marks the arrival of our Creator over two millennia ago who came to repair a relationship that we had broken. He came to do for us what we would have never been able to do for ourselves.
I wish you and your family a great Christmas season! It’s a permanent marker to the fact that we have value and meaning to One greater than us!
For those checking out the book reviews, I finished The Ultimate Sales Machine by Chet Holmes. My post of notes from the book is complete. You can check it out on my blog at this link.
If you would like to read along, I will be starting Content Inc. by Joe Pulizzi soon.

We have all been in a situation where there is a clear choice to be made, but we seek an easier or quicker alternative. Often, more time is wasted looking for “better” options where the problem or issue could have already been resolved while we dither.
There needs to be a clear distinction between indecisiveness and recklessness.
Jumping to conclusions and acting without regard for the consequences makes for poor leadership. Success among those showing these tendencies are often more a case of luck than anything else!
That said, we rarely have the benefit of complete information and certainty in our decision making.
A good leader weighs the options, evaluates the risks, and makes the best decisions with the knowledge they have. If new information or results highlight that pivoting is in order, you make the best decision at that point adjusting and adapting as you continue to move forward.
If you do that, you’re doing your job as a leader!

PPC Strategies for B2B in 2021
As we close out 2020, it’s time to be developing strategies for 2021. Be sure to check out these two blog posts sharing recommendations for the New Year. With the 2020 election nearly complete and anticipated changes both politically and economically, I anticipate blended strategies (combining aspects of search & social along with intent & interrupt) to become even more effective. Strategies focusing on singular aspects will continue to weaken as the value of message repetition will only increase.
Six Strategies to get more Backlinks
Backlinks (links from other sites referencing your website) are a strong signal to search engines of your domain’s authority. Relevant backlinks from sites that publish content about topics similar to topics that your site shares are a key practice for good SEO (search-engine-optimization). Check out and try some of these strategies to improve your own site’s authority.

Update: End-of-Year Stimulus and continuation of Eviction Bans
Based on current reports, it sounds as if the “lame duck” Congress is negotiating among themselves as well as the Trump Administration for an end-of-year stimulus package set to include rental assistance for low-income renters behind on their rental payments as well as a continuation of eviction bans until February 2021.
While a welcome nod to America’s landlords (especially the >50% of rental property owners who are predominately mom-and-pop or small operators), the reality is that continued hold-up on evictions for tenants who are not paying rent will only exacerbate the problem. Tenants continuing to fall deeper into the hole are more and more unlikely to recover and government bailouts do not address the underlying problem that housing is a cost that must be paid.
If you are a Landlord or work with Landlords, I’d recommend you check out the Real Estate Coffee Break link that I usually include on these newsletters. John has been at the front of this issue since it took effect and has been sharing a number of creative ways that Landlords can try to operate during this period of uncertainty.
