Setup a life that you don't need an escape from!
Too many of us work (and live) for our vacation time. We treat our jobs as something we have to do in between those occasional moments when we've "earned the right" to be away from them. It is little wonder that millions of people work for years like this only to find retirement that they looked to all that time wholly unfulfilling.

Looking Beyond The Problem

I read a question from Matt Wacek on a Facebook group today. In his business, he was struggling with a client who was not meeting the terms of their agreement for digital services. While he was not losing money, the client was reneging on the main revenue portion of their contract.

To make matters worse, he found where they were using other marketing services that he could see from simple analysis producing fewer results than he had been. When discussing the situation with the client, they expressed concern about the additional staffing they would need if they were getting results as Matt delivers. According to the client, they were struggling to hire and keep employees which they saw as a limitation of their growth.

The question: What should Matt do?

  1. As Matt was really out no money, I suggested that he forgo trying to enforce the contract terms. His contract included an exit clause which he could negotiate with them. Since the client was continuing with some of his services, he is in a solid position to hold a good relationship at a lower commitment while freeing himself up to spend more time continuing the growth of his business (instead of trying to enforce contract terms with existing ones).
  2. A client expressing issues finding and keeping employees should have been an opportunity beacon for Matt. As his company provides digital services, it sounds as if this client could benefit from an entirely separate marketing campaign attracting employees!

When your target audience and customers highlight a problem, it pays to consider if there is something else that you can offer that might help solve it!

There is a lot of chatter currently about workforce participation in this post-Covid economy.

Frankly, joking about people who are not working will do little to motivate them (especially if you are wanting them to work with you). In this case, it will be just another place where successful companies do things that make them successful.

Attracting good talent is just marketing of a different kind. It is possibly a different audience than your customers, but your actions are very similar!

  • You have to attract their attention where they are.
  • You have to interest them with an offer that provides them something they see as value.
  • You have to get their acceptance of your offer.

If you are having challenges with growth (or have customers who are struggling), remember to see beyond the challenge to something that you might offer to close the gap.

…and if you need some help problem-solving, remember that I’m just an email or phone call away!

Setup a life that you don't need an escape from!

My ‘Reading Seth’ videos are selected readings and commentary from Seth’s earlier blog postings from the early 2000s. While my YouTube videos have focused on some of these earlier work, I am just a much a fan of Seth’s current work.

I do not know when Seth shared the insight, but it is appropriate and salient for all of us today.

Too many of us work (and live) for our vacation time. We treat our jobs as something we have to do in between those occasional moments when we’ve “earned the right” to be away from them.

It is little wonder that millions of people work for years like this only to find retirement that they looked to all that time wholly unfulfilling.

It has often been said that “If you find something that makes you as happy to start Monday morning as most people look toward Friday afternoon, you are dangerously close to success!”

If this is you, what do you need to do differently to make your life what you want as opposed to something you endure in between pauses of recreation? What could you be doing that is something that you’d rather not retire from? If something came to mind, why are you spending your life doing something else?

Developing a LinkedIn Company Page strategy
LinkedIn is still a solid platform on which businesses (and individuals) can share and connect with an audience. Even though its earlier organic reach “boom” has subsided, there are opportunities to grow your foothold on the platform. Optimizing your company page (and using it as an outreach tool) is one such technique.

Print media (and other forms) have been utilizing the Inverted Pyramid technique for years. Adapting it to SEO and content for our websites is a good step to obtain more search traffic as well as hold readers interest for longer stays once on your site.

Another WordPress Vulnerability
As many of you know, my site (SirusDigital.com) runs on WordPress. If you own or manage sites on the platforms, it is important to keep your main site (and all plug-ins) up to date. The number of sites using the platform makes it an attractive target for ne’er-do-wells so it pays to be vigilant.
