Sirus Digital Newsletter – Edition 84

Your past does not equal your future...unless you live there.
Keep in mind that your behavior and gifts on a singular day (like a Birthday or Valentine's Day) should be comparable to how you treat those most important to you on every other day! How you handle yourself in the "unnoticed" times is what earns massive collateral for those moments where we visibly fall short.

Love Is In The Air

Editor’s Note: This newsletter was originally published on February 14th, 2022.

No, this is not a call back to the 1977 Disco hit by John Paul Young. (Yes, I had to Google the reference!)

This is a reminder to those reading it that today (Feb 14th) is Valentine’s Day! I share this for the benefit of subscribers who might (otherwise) have forgotten!

Don’t be that guy (or gal). LOL

Interestingly, I was that guy early on in our marriage. Lucky for me, my wife had forgotten it as well! Neither of us noticed until my Mom’s card arrived as a reminder to us both! #Whew & #ThanksMom

It is deserving of a call-out that your behavior and assorted gifts on a singular day (like a Birthday or Valentine’s Day) should be comparable to how you treat those most important to you on every other day! How you handle yourself in the “unnoticed” times is what earns massive collateral for those moments where we visibly fall short.

As much as some people complain about days like Valentine’s being more about flowers, cards, and candy, do not forget that they are reminders for us as well as reminders for us to show others how much they mean to us.

What is your best Valentine’s Day success or failure?

Unrelated Sports Mention

At the time of this writing, the Super Bowl is about an hour and a half away from Kickoff. I have little rooting interest in either team outside of some UGA players featured. #GoodLuck to them all!

Your past does not equal your future...unless you live there.

I have been a fan of Tony Robbins material for quite a while. I have read some of his books and listened to his interviews, but haven’t had the opportunity to see him in person.

This quote has been at the core of his message since his days selling cassettes on infomercials.

So many people let their past govern and/or cloud their future. As he notes, its power largely comes from that which you grant it.

Our world has those who have moved forward from past circumstances as well as others who have not. Everyone chooses how they respond in the Now which most affects their future.

The interesting paradox is that I use a technique called “Predicting the Future based on Past Results” as a way to gain insight into future events. Fundamentally, the idea is that most people will react in similar ways in similar situations. Amazingly, many will do so even if they experienced poor outcomes.

This highlights that while we can generally be predictable, we do have the capacity to learn and change.

In the end, the decision is our own!

My challenge to you today is to make it a good one.

For those checking out the book reviews, I reviewed Twelve And A Half (Amazon affiliate link) by Gary Vaynerchuk. You can check out my notes at this link.

Keep a lookout as I have finished reading the following books and will be posting my notes for those very soon!

Preparing for Facebook Audience Targeting changes
Lost among the media frenzy of value drops for Meta is much of the reasoning for the fall. Ad revenues on Facebook have not been meeting expectations as more and more users become more privacy-aware. Also overlooked is the greater difficulty and higher costs that advertisers are encountering trying to reach customers. As more changes come about, marketers need to understand the impacts and adapt their strategies to succeed within this new environment.

Google Search Ads 360 Updates
For those using Google Search Ads, the current update offers a number of opportunities. It could especially help marketers who buy digital advertising across multiple platforms. With its new features supporting 3rd party tools, it could make a serious leap into the realm of “enterprise tool” for many organizations.

Bulleted Lists in Google Search Ads
One of the drawbacks of some ad platforms has been the static “dull” nature of the ad as it is displayed. Support bulleted lists within Google Search Ads could go a long way in making them more visually appealing and easier to consume. If so, it will likely positively impact the ultimate goal (conversion) as well!

For those of us who produce content, doing so in a fashion that is consumable as well as optimized for search engines is a two-pronged objective. Start with the objective (sales, conversions, attention, etc) and work backward to develop your content.

Here are a couple of posts with good practice for content development:

WordPress 5.9 Update highlights a new breed of themes
As a WP user, updates on the platform introduce new opportunities and new challenges to overcome. With the flexibility to do full-site editing (FSE), comes the risk of performance degradation if it becomes too difficult to render. Regardless of what the new update allows us to do, keep in mind that usability and performance are still major ranking factors with search engines and effectiveness (not aesthetics) should be our main goal!

While this post on our website is focused specifically on Bankruptcy Attorneys, the ideas are relevant across a number of legal (and non-legal) verticals. Be sure to check it out.
